Lexus LF-CC to premier at Paris Motor Show

The midsize Lexus LF-CC coupe concept will make its world premier at the Paris auto show at the end of this month. It's claimed that the LF-CC will inform the design for the next generation of IS sedans, though we're told a midsize coupe may be in Lexus' future as well. The LF-CC takes design cues from the concept Lexus LF-LC, which we've now seen at several auto shows.

The LF-CC will be a hybrid, with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine connected to a high-output, water-cooled permanent-magnet electric motor. The LF-CC uses a generator, battery and a “power-split device” to control the multiple outputs and direct them to the rear wheels. The gas engine also uses direct injection to save more fuel. Emissions are claimed to be less than 100 grams per kilometer. Lexus says it will introduce this hybrid unit to its model range in the near future

The exterior shows many cues from the LF-LC with what Lexus calls its “L-finesse design language.” The spindle grille is framed by the hood, chin spoiler and front fender tips, mesh stretching out over the bumper. LEDs and daytime running lights are integrated into the front clip. Lower fender scoops direct air to the engine and brakes, and molded side skirts force air over the driven wheels. Lexus says those side skirts match up with the rear-bumper character line to give the vehicle its coupe proportions. L-shaped Lexus taillights sit at the corners under an integrated spoiler.
Inside, the dashboard is divided into two distinct zones. The upper display zone features a multidisplay screen, and the lower “operation” zone holds the shifter and other controls.
Elsewhere in the interior, the seats, door panels and instrument panel are trimmed in amber. Lexus says it used plenty of metallic finishes and soft-touch materials to reinforce the quality feel.
We'll find out more about the concept in Paris.
The 2012 Paris motor show, or as it is officially known – Mondail de l'Automobile – will take place September 27 through October 14, 2012. It occurs every two years alternating with the Frankfurt motor show in Germany. The Paris motor show is a spotlight for the latest in design, but automakers will also be showing off their latest concept cars, green cars and supercars.
